Monrovia Police Surround, Storm Home on Almond Ave.

Officers have reason to believe a burglar is inside the house, but do not find anyone.

About 10 officers from the Monrovia Police Department surrounded a house on the 600 block of East Almond Avenue Friday afternoon after a possible burglar was reported at the residence.

After carefully surrounding the home and preparing a search team, officers entered but did not find anyone inside, according to Lt. Michael Lee.

Officers responded to the home around 3 p.m. when someone reported a possible burglary. Upon arriving, they saw the front door open and close, which led them to believe that a burglar was inside, Lee said.

"We conformed with the homeowner that no one is supposed to be in the house," Lee said.

Officers entered the home around 6:30 p.m. and searched it with assistance from a K-9 unit on loan from the Pasadena Police Department, but did not find anyone. Officers had still not searched the attic when he spoke to Patch, but Lee said his optimism about finding anyone inside was waning.

"It seems he may have slipped out," Lee said.
