More than 1,700 Motorists Arrested in LA County So Far on Suspcion of DUI

The Monrovia Police Department participated in "Avoid the 100" DUI patrols Friday, part of an effort through Labor Day to crack down on DUIs.

The "Avoid the 100" deployment, composed of law enforcement agencies throughout Los Angeles County,  arrested 1,776 motorists on suspicion of drunken driving as a part of the Summer/Labor National Anti-DUI crackdown that began Aug. 16, authorities announced Saturday.

The deployment involved officers representing 100 county law enforcement agencies. The reporting period began at 12:01 a.m. on Aug. 16 and continued through midnight on Friday. During the same 15-day time period last year, there were 1,592 DUI arrests, according to a department statement.

Monrovia Police officers participated in "Avoid the 100" patrols on Friday, according to a news release.

For the final three nights of the Labor Day Holiday weekend extra DUI saturation patrol and DUI checkpoints will be deployed in multiple cities in Los Angeles County, according to the statement.
