MPD Tip of the Week: Megan's Law Database

In the wake of the arrest of a convicted child molester by Monrovia detectives, the police put out this tip about the state's registry for sex offenders.

From the :

The State of California maintains a public database enabling you to search for names of registered sex offenders and information about them. You can also search by location, zip code, and some venues where children gather. The Megan's Law database is updated regularly and it is best to check your area every so often for any new offenders. The page has legal disclaimers and information you will need to review and agree to prior to conducting a search.

In addition to the Megan's Law information, the State website offers great advice and tips to parents on helping to prevent our children from becoming victims of sexual assault.
