The tour company whose bus overturned on the 210 freeway in Irwindale Thursday had been flagged previously by the federal government for a poor performance record.
Da Zhen is on "alert status," which could mean the Monterey Park-based company might be subject to more safety inspections, reported NBC4 Los Angeles.
During Thursday's crash, the tour bus driver struck a car while changing lanes and then veered across the freeway before overturning and landing on its side, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The news station's I-Team reviewed the company's records and reportedly found that it had received three violations for unsafe driving during inspections the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration conducted this year, according to NBC4. Two of those violations were for speeding and a third was for following behind other cars too closely.
