Monrovia Burglary Suspect Chased by Resident, Arrested by Police

A resident allegedly caught a burglar in the act and chased him. The suspect evaded the resident but not police.

Monrovia Police officers arrested a Baldwin Park man on suspicion of burglary Wednesday after a resident allegedly tried to chase him down.

Police responded to the call shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday in the 700 block of Anita Street. A resident told police he saw a man break into his vehicle and chased him away.

"The resident came out, found the guy in his car," Monrovia Police Lt. Michael Lee said. "The guy split. The resident chased him a little bit, they called the cops."

Officers apprehended the suspect at the intersection of Mayflower Avenue and Diamond Street and arrested him on suspicion of burglary, according to police.

The suspect was identified as Maximino Alejandro Acevedo, 29, of Baldwin Park, the Pasadena Star-News reported.
