Police Blotter: Runnin' with Red Bull

A wrap-up of the notable crimes investigated by the Monrovia Police Department this week.

A thief in pursuit of Red Bull headlines this week's Police Blotter, which also includes an angry girlfriend and a missing jewelry box.

Runnin’ with the Red Bull

 At 4:10 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, Monrovia Police reported that a suspect attempted to steal a cart full of Red Bull from a business on the 100 block of West Foothill Boulevard. Monrovia Police arrested the suspect, who admitted he was going to sell the energy drinks.

The Missing Jewelry Box

At 11:10 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, Monrovia Police reported that a resident’s jewelry box went missing three weeks after her daughter-in-law had lost the key to the house. The investigation is ongoing.

Angry Girlfriend

A male resident came to the Monrovia Police Department at 1:51 p.m. on Friday, March 11,  to report that his live-in girlfriend had thrown a glass mural at him and cut his right arm. Monrovia Police arrested the female suspect after she admitted to throwing the glass mural.

Exit by Airlift

 At 9:58 a.m. on Sunday, March 13, Monrovia Police reported that a man fell from the waterfall at Canyon Park and sustained a head injury. The man was airlifted from Canyon Park with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Stepson Vs. Stepfather

A stepfather was stabbed in his left side by his adult stepson during a heated argument at 6:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 13. According to police reports, the stepfather responded by hitting his stepson on the hand. Both parties were transported to the hospital where they were released with non-life-threatening injuries. Monrovia Police arrested the stepson.

 Hold-Up

 At 7:54 p.m. on Sunday, March 13 a male suspect entered a business on the 100 block of West Huntington Drive. The suspect produced a handgun and demanded money from an employee. According to police reports, the suspect took $150.00 and fled the scene on a bicycle. The suspect is described a Hispanic male with facial hair wearing a black sweatshirt and a Los Angeles Dodger’s baseball cap. The investigation is ongoing.

 The Suspect Came in Through the Rear Window

At 7:37 p.m. on Tuesday, March 15, Monrovia police responded to a residential burglary. According to police reports, a resident returned home after work and discovered someone had broken a rear window, entered the residence and removed a laptop computer and several other items. The investigation is ongoing. 

He Almost Got Away With It

A juvenile male removed was caught suspiciously looking into vehicles on the 300 block of North Primrose Avenue at 12:25 a.m. on Wednesday, March 16. The suspect removed coins from a vehicle and was caught by officers sitting in the passenger seat of a moving vehicle. Monrovia Police conducted a traffic stop and arrested the suspect. He was later released to a parent.
