Police Search Monrovia Home in Operation Related to Recent Altadena and Pasadena Gun Violence

A search warrant was served at a Monrovia home as part of the operation.

A Monrovia home was searched Thursday as part of an operation aimed at gang members responsible for recent shootings in Altadena and Pasadena.

The operation has netted seven arrests, including one for attempted murder in a last month.

Police had filed nine search warrants at various locations in Pasadena and Altadena, including the home of 17-year-old Brandon Jackson, who was fatally shot in February, according to Lt. Joe Dempsey of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Altadena station.

All the locations where there were warrant searches conducted had suspected gang ties, Dempsey said, though in the case of Jackson's home, he said detectives do not believe there was an actual gang member living there.

In addition to the Altadena and Pasadena searches, police also served warrants at locations in Monrovia, Los Angeles, and Chino. Details of the Monrovia search are not yet known.

He said the searches are not for the suspects in the Jackson shooting, but rather in several attempted shootings that have taken place since and were likely in retaliation for Jackson's slaying.

Those shootings have included:

  • The Marengo and Sacramento shooting on March 16, where police described the victim as a gang member who refused to cooperate with police.
  • A that took place in the 200 block of Pepper Street two days after the Jackson slaying.
  • An additional murder that took place before Jackson's shooting in Pasadena.  Dempsey said he did not immediately have all the details on that one.

Dempsey said the Pasadena Police Department would be releasing information on the suspects who were arrested later in the day.

He said that the Pasadena detectives believe that they may arrest some additional suspects by the end of the day and will be able to release more information after that.
