Monrovia Police Seek Auto Theft Suspects

are searching for two men who ran after spotting an officer and allegedly ran across the 210 freeway to get escape.

Just after 12 noon, an officer on patrol near , 937 West Huntington Drive, ran the license plate of a Honda Civic in the parking lot and discovered it was reported stolen out of Baldwin Park, said Lieutenant Zeke Cereceres. The suspects reportedly exited the restaurant at one point and took off on foot.

The two suspects then fled onto the Eastbound Interstate 210 freeway, ran across traffic lanes, hopped the center divider and ran across Westbound lanes. California High Patrol officials reportedly received calls from numerous drivers about the subjects running on the freeway, Cereceres said.

Officers are continuing to comb the area, trying to determine the path the suspects took and are calling businesses and interviewing passersby in the area to find if anyone saw the men.

The first suspect is described as a male Hispanic wearing a white T-shirt, blue jean shorts and a tan fedora. He also carried a backpack. The second suspect is a male Hispanic wearing a light blue sweater and blue jeans.
