Prosecutor: Randone Tortured Victim by Kicking Her

A prosecutor argued in closing arguments that the hundreds of blunt force trauma wounds on Felicia Lee were likely inflicted by kicks from Brian Lee Randone.

A prosecutor suggested for the first time in trial Tuesday that the hundreds of blunt force trauma wounds on Felicia Lee's body were caused by the feet of the man accused of killing her.

After police were unable to retrieve any instrument that they believed could have caused the abrasions and bruises found throughout Lee's body, Deputy District Attorney Philip Wojdak showed the jury a photo of Brian Lee Randone's bruised and scratched feet during closing arguments Tuesday and suggested they caused Lee's injuries.

"The injuries on Mrs. Lee could easily have been made by these feet," Wojdak said. "There's only one thing in the apartment that could have done it and that's those severely injured feet."

Randone is count because he allegedly "beat the daylights out of" Lee before smothering her to death, Wojdak said.

Focusing on , Wojdak said the injuries were in patterns that indicate Lee was trying to defend herself.

"[The wounds] tell a story of a woman balled up in a fetal position," Wojdak said. "The areas that are exposed are the areas that take the vast majority of the punishment."

Wojdak then took aim at the defense's theory that during a drug-induced, seizure-like episode. Lee was found with a high level of GHB, the date rape drug, in her body when she died, and Randone's attorneys have .

.

Blood spatter patterns in the closet suggested that Lee had gone there to hide, Wojdak said, noting that very little blood was found on the outside part of the door, where she would have impacted if she fell through it.

"The defendant only has fiberboard to work with with because that's all they could find," Wojdak said. "Pardon my pun, but that's literally a flimsy argument."

Wojdak showed photos of Lee's battered face and the inside of her mouth on a projector screen, noting the visible abrasions on her eye sockets, nose, forehead, chin, tongue, and gums. He said the medical examiner described all the wounds as classic markers of smothering.

"We're talking about a smothering where somebody is being pushed down onto something or a pillow is being pushed down on her face," Wojdak said. "These injuries are not consistent with the theory that she could have gone face-first through a closet door."

Wojdak will resume his closing argument Wednesday morning. After the defense's closing arguments and Wojdak's rebuttal, the jury will likely begin deliberations sometime Wednesday afternoon.
