Sketch: Suspect Wanted in Arcadia Homicide

A father of three was shot and killed in Arcadia Monday night, and police are searching for a suspect. Have you seen this man?

The Coroner's Department on Tuesday afternoon released the name of the father of three who was shot and killed during a home invasion robbery Monday in unincorporated Arcadia.

Homicide investigators made an appeal for the public's help in identifying Jose Antonio Parra's killer. Parra, who police said was 35, has a 6-year-old daughter and two sons, ages 3 and 5.

Shortly after 8 p.m. on Monday, Parra, his wife and children returned from church to their home on the 11000 block of Kristi Court to find an armed man lying in wait for them in the garage.

The Sheriff's Department says the suspect, a light-skinned Hispanic man in his early to mid-30s, pointed a hand gun at the family and demanded money. Fearing for their safety, the family handed over their rent money to the suspect.

Believing the family had more money in the house, the suspect ordered the mother and children into a back bedroom before demanding more cash from the father, according to the Sheriff's Department.

Shortly afterwards, the family heard gunshots. They left the room to find the Parra dead and the suspect gone.

All was quiet Tuesday morning on Kristi Court. Neighbors, who declined to talk with the media, went about their day while a cleaning crew arrived to mop up the scene of the crime.

A woman identified as the children's aunt stopped into the house without talking to reporters.
