UPDATE: Vehicle Collision on Foothill Sends Two People to Hospital

One woman lost some of her teeth and another woman injured her pelvis in the collision on Foothill Boulevard, police said.

Two motorists were hospitalized Wednesday after their vehicles collided with each other at the intersection of Foothill Boulevard and Alta Vista Avenue, police said.

Police first got reports of the collision at about 11:45 a.m. A woman driving southbound on Alta Vista Avenue pulled into the Foothill Boulevard intersection and was struck by a car moving westbound, Monrovia Police Lt. Michael Lee said.

A female passenger in the car traveling westbound suffered a laceration to her leg and lost some of her teeth in the collision, Lee said.

"[She] had her feet up on the dashboard and the force of the impact drove her face into her leg and her leg knocked out her teeth," Lee said.

The driver of the southbound car, whom police determined was at fault, sustained an unknown injury to her pelvis, Lee said.

"The southbound driver didn't see the other driver and drove into his path and he hit her," Lee said.

The corner of Foothill and Alta Vista seems to have a tendency to host these types of accidents. I know I've been a witness to at least three. Thank goodness there were no fatalities.

It's a very bad intersection due to all the parents going to Mayflower just North of there.

It's also where 7-11 is, and I've seen more foolishness from folks going in and speeding out there. Nobody should make Oh, Thank Heaven, for 7-11 the real deal. Hope those involved in the accident are ok.

Such a bad intersection. :-(

Wow. From my vantage point, it seemed like the woman in the gray car driving south bound on Alta Vista was in lesser shape then the folks in the red car. Though it sounded terrible, glad to hear that injuries are not life threatening.

The lady in the southbound car is lucky to be alive. My lousy, long-distance picture doesn't do it justice, but her door was pushed about a foot into the passenger compartment.

That street is bad as it is. From my personal experience driving on foothill ,I always see people going above the speed limit always on their phones. There are children and schools nearby. Why the heck are you not paying attention to the road?! .. no ones really at fault id say but they should change that intersections from stop signs to street lights

I second that. I used to live on Linwood right next to that intersection and I heard/witnessed some serious accidents there. Sometimes I wished there was a traffic light there until I remember how Monrovia operates traffic lights. Every signal operates independently so that frequently traffic backing up from one red light reaches another intersection with a green light. It only takes a stopwatch and basic math to manually set a traffic light's cycle to avoid those situations, but when contacted about that possibility, Monrovia's Public Works declares that the traffic lights in the city are essentially rogue and uncontrollable.

I lived on No. Alta Vista for 20 years and always hated to cross Foothill. I often went over Concord to Mayflower to avoid it.
