Updated: City Offers Monrovians Tips on Recycling Christmas Trees

Editor's Note: The city of Monrovia told Patch that information provided on Athens' website was outdated so it has been replaced with recycling tips from the Public Works Department.

Now that the presents have been unwrapped and those celebrating Christmas may be gearing up to put those decorations away, the city's wants Monrovia residents to know how they can recycle and dispose of their holiday trees.

The following tips were provided on city of Monrovia's website:

Christmas Tree Recycling

Just place your Christmas tree curbside on your regular trash collection day beginning December 26, 2013 through January 10, 2014.

Please remove all ornaments, tinsel, plastic bags, nails, lights, and plastic or metal stands; otherwise, trees will not be collected.

Flocked and fire retardant coated trees will be accepted.

After January 10, please trim branches and place in the green materials barrel.
