California Avenue and Duarte Road Intersection to Close for a Day Thursday

The closure is part of ongoing grade construction being done in the area for the Gold Line project.

The intersection of California Avenue and Duarte Road will be completely closed to thru-traffic Thursday so that crews can reconfigure the traffic lanes and re-stripe the road for ongoing grade crossing construction in the area, according to the Gold Line Foothill Extension Construction Authority.

The closure will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., weather permitting.

The construction authority has provided the following list of what Monrovia residents and motorists can expect:

  • During the closure of the intersection, detour routes will be in place and signage will be posted to direct motorists.
  • Following the closure, Duarte Rd will re-open to one lane of traffic in each direction and California Ave will remain closed north of Duarte Rd.
  • Motorists are advised to expect delays.
  • Surrounding businesses will remain open and accessible during the closure.
Construction delays are subject to change.
