Huge 130-Foot Beams for Gold Line Will Be Transported Through Monrovia Friday

The beams are needed for the San Gabriel River Bridge.

Giant beams needed for the Gold Line Foothill Extension's San Gabriel River Bridge will be transported through Monrovia beginning Friday afternoon.

Three of the 130-foot beams will be moved on trucks throughout the city from noon to 2 p.m. and more of the beams will be transported until Tuesday, according to a Monrovia news release.

"Based on the alternatives evaluated by Public Works, Gold Line and their contractors, this route and delivery times will result in the least impact to our community," City Manager Laurie Lile said in a prepared statement.

The trucks will exit the westbound 210 at Myrtle Avenue and turn left onto West Central Avenue. They will then move west on Central to Mayflower Avenue, turning left on Duarte Road and moving eastbound into the city of Duarte.

"Drivers on the road during this time are asked to be mindful of pilot cars and traffic controls in the area," the release states.
