New City Manager Officially Sworn In

Laurie Lile officially took over Monrovia's top management post Thursday during the City Council's regular meeting.

Laurie Lile's reign as Monrovia's top administrator began Tuesday when she was officially sworn in as the new city manager during the 's regular meeting.

Addressing the council briefly after taking the oath of office, Lile said she was looking forward to improving upon the community she's come to know over the last few weeks and praised the city staff she will now preside over.

"The staff has been outstanding to deal with," Lile said.

Mayor Mary Ann Lutz then acknowledged the efforts of Mark Alvarado, the city's finance director who took charge as interim city manager as the council searched for a successor to Scott Ochoa. Ochoa resigned his post as city manager last December to .

Lutz presented flowers to Alvarado and his family and thanked him, saying he "stepped up and really made a difference."

"We want you to know how much we appreciate the time and the effort that you put towards being our interim city manager," she said.
