Recall: Don't Eat That Trader Joe's Chicken Salad!

The Monrovia-based grocery store chain has recalled nearly two tons of its barbeque chicken salad because of a possible contamination of Listeria.

Nearly two tons of barbeque chicken salad sold by Monrovia-based was recalled by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service because of a possible Listeria contamination, Medical Daily reported Monday.

The "Class 1" recall means the food, which contains food from Gills Onions where the possible contamination took place, is considered to be "high risk," according to LA Weekly.

From the Food Safety and Inspection Service:

The product subject to recall bears the establishment number "P-11079" inside the USDA mark of inspection. Each package also has a sticker with use-by dates through July 30, 2012. The product was produced between July 20, 2012, and July 24, 2012, and was distributed to retail establishments in Arizona, New Mexico, Southern California, Southern Nevada and Texas.

The salad was prepared by Vernon-based Huxtable's Kitchen.

These products were also discontinued: Trader Joe's Fresh Mild Salsa, Balela, Roasted Butternut Squash, Red Quinoa & Wheat berry Salad and Trader Joe's Diced Onions, Garlic & Shallots Blend, according to Medical Daily.

Trader Joes will give a full refund for any of this food that is returned to its stores, according to LA Weekly.
