Registered Republican Voters in LA County Down

The percentage of registered Republicans in the county has shrunk to 22 percent of the electorate and is down to 29.3 percent statewide.

The percentage of registered Republicans in Los Angeles County has shrunk to 22 percent of the electorate, as the General Election looms Tuesday.

Statewide, the percentage of Republican registrants has shrunk to 29.3 percent, according to figures released by the Secretary of State late Friday.

Democratic party officials say the state's new online voter registration is responsible for the blue surge.

A record 18.2 million Californians are now registered to vote, up about 950,000 voters from the 2008 election. Back then, the G.O.P. had 31.4 percent of the registrants.

California Republicans hold an 8-point edge over "no party preference" voters, who are now more than one fifth of the Golden State's electorate.

The percentage of Democratic voters remains nearly unchanged, at 43.7 percent.

Reaction to the new voting system and its results fell along predictable partisan lines. Los Angeles County Democratic Chair Eric C. Bauman put out a press release trumpeting his view that "L.A. will remain the big blue beacon of hope for Democrats nationwide for years to come."

Republican state Chair Tom Del Beccao told the Washington Post that the new numbers reflect a registration system that does not have enough study or safeguards. "We're going to have to see whether those are valid registrations or actual voters," he told the Post.

New registrants does not an electorate make. When I saw the registration booths at the OC Fair and the LA Co. Fair, there were people lined up at the Rep. booths and no one at any of the others. Is this article accurate? Is this article painting a picture of leftist hope for the HuffPo readers? IF in fact there are fewer Reps voting, it's because the entire state of CA is blue and worships giving to those who haven't paid their fair share. That's why it's broke. That's why the US economy will slip away even further over the next four years. If O is re-elected you better all fasten your seat belts for a bumpy ride as we continue to lose our freedoms.

Never happen here but an interesting conclusion and nearly as accurate as any other poll. Vote wisely my friends.

Romney is 1% ahead of Obama in the final poll before voting tomorrow. Keep our fingers crossed the tyrant will soon be gone. http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2012/11/05/cnns-gut-check-for-november-5-2012-2/

Is the Huffington Post "leftist"? According to whom?

Really, Obama is a "tyrant" now? God, I'll be happy when this election is over, and maybe all this cartoon-characterization (all good/all bad) of mere men is (I hope) done with. Obviously you people don't get outside the U.S. into the rest of the big world much to learn what the word "tyrant" really means. Tyrants are unlike anything this nation has EVER seen. Grow up and stop the hysterical, inflammatory emotional hyperbole. Just because you're upset about the present and afraid of the future does NOT mean there's some human villain out there: Fear is its own monster. "We have seen the enemy, and it is us". You're actually believing the nonsense the pr-people are feeding you: The latest Anti-Obama ad refers to "America is no longer first in the world" in terms of business, etc. As if that JUST happened? News Flash: The U.S. has NOT been "the top nation" in GNP, GDP, exports, standard of living, healthcare, education, etc. FOR OVER 15 YEARS!!! look it up in the US Census data, National Geographic archives, etc.

"US Census data, National Geographic archives, etc." Yes those would be honest and unbiased sources for that information, really?

The Liberals are telling all their Liberal friends that the still support the "Obamanation" but when they are alone placing a vote for President they will vote for Romney because even they don't want 4 more like the last 4.

Well, when a person believes that a long-standing science and research organization like the National Geographic Society---one that's respected worldwide by people of divergent governments, philosophies and backgrounds---- is some sort of biased propaganda machine, then that person probably believes that any source of info that doesn't agree with his views is biased, faulty and maybe even of ill-intent. (So, what would such a person accept as a reliable source of information? The web-cullings of a bitter old man in Monrovia? Fox News? Occupy? The Globe?) Wow. How sad. How very, very sad.
