A rundown of all the school board campaign donations and expenditures by candidate.

Patch obtained the campaign finance disclosure statements of each school board candidate submitted to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk's office. The following fundraising information was compiled from those records, which show campaign activity from Jan. 1 to Sept. 24:

Candidate: Janeane Covarrubias

  • Total Contributions Received: $3,032
  • Total Expenditures Made: $2,836
  • Contributors: Marianne Lee, program director at AT&T, $100; Betty Sandford, retired, $100; Frances Cash, retired, $100; Tom Kwak, real estate broker, $200; Irene Cervantes, retired, $200; unitemized monetary contributions, $547
  • Loans Received: Mary Quinteros, retired, $1,200
  • Nonmonetary Contributions Received: James O'Balles, retired, table and chair rentals totalling $285
  • Payments Made: Los Angeles Registrar-Recorder, candidate statement, $1,200; Campaign CA (Gardena), campaign yard sign deposit, $325; Foodservice (Monrovia), food service at kickoff, $100

  • Accrued Expenses: Filing Expenses, $600

Candidates Ed Gililland, Bryan Wong, Ed McCarthy and David Crabtree all filed documents saying they anticipate receiving and spending less than $1,000--the threshold needed to file itemized disclosure statements. Gililland has notified the county that he has exceeded that amount and now must file full disclosure statements, according to county records.
