School Board Debate Set

The League of Women Voters will moderate the candidate's forum to be held on Oct. 19.

A school board candidates forum is set for the night of October 19 at 7 p.m. in the .

The forum will be moderated by the League of Women Voters.

Seven candidates, including two incumbents, are vying for three open seats in an election that will be decided on Nov. 8. School Board President Ed Gililland is running for reelection along with board member Bryan Wong.

The newcomers are:

  • David Dale Crabtree
  • Rob Hammond, Business Owner
  • Janeane Lechuga Covarrubias, Escrow Officer
  • Ed McCarthy, Businessman
  • Terrence G. Williams, Entrepreneur

Hammond, Monrovia's former mayor, since stepping down as mayor in 2009.

The top three vote-getters will win seats on the board when votes are cast in November.
