The Faces of Monrovia's Next Elected Reps?

New voting district lines could change Monrovia's representation in the State Senate, State Assembly and United States Congress.

New district boundaries could mean entirely new representation for Monrovia in the state legislature and U.S. Congress after a Monday.

Here are the potential new candidates for Monrovia:

  • In the state Assembly, where Monrovia is currently represented by Assemblyman Anthony Portantino (D-La Canada Flintridge) and Tim Donnelly (R-Hesperia), Monrovia would fall in the district where Pasadena Councilman Chris Holden will likely make a run. Portantino will be termed out and plans a congressional run.
  • In the State Senate, Monrovia is currently represented by State Senator Bob Huff (R-Walnut). State Senator Carol Liu (D-La Canada Flintridge) to run in Monrovia's new state senate district.
  • In U.S. Congress, Monrovia is currently represented by Congressman David Dreier (R-San Dimas), who would still represent part of Monrovia under the new district arrangements if reelected. But he could face opposition from Assemblyman Anthony Portantino (D-La Canada FLintridge), .
  • Monrovia's other representative in congress could be Congresswoman Judy Chu (D-Monterey Park), who has already in the western San Gabriel Valley congressional district.
