Traffic Alert: Gold Line Construction Begins

Lane closures on major Monrovia streets will begin next week.

From the Monrovia City Manager's weekly report:

Myrtle Avenue Lane Closures: Between Duarte Rd and Railroad Avenue, November- December 2012

Construction crews will be worknig to remove existing railroad tracks and relocate a waterline in preparation for the construction of the 11.5-mile Metro Gold Line Foothill Extension light rail project. Lane closures are required to accomplish this work:

  • Monday November 5, 9:00pm - Tuesday, November 6, 6:00am: FULL LANE CLOSURE OVERNIGHT, EXPECT DETOURS (Myrtle Ave btw Duarte Rd & Railroad Ave)
  • Tuesday, November 6, 9:00am- 3:00pm: FULL NORTHBOUND LANE CLOSURE, EXPECT DETOURS (Myrtle Ave btw Duarte Rd & Railroad Ave)
  • Wednesday, November 7- Friday, December 14 from 7:00am- 3:00pm: NORTHBOUND RIGHT LANE CLOSURE 24-HR / DAY

Detour signs will be posted, vehicular traffic will be detoured to direct traffic during the implementation of full closures. Pedestrians and bicycles will be detoured around the work zone. Temporary "No Parking" signs will be posted to indicate street parking restrictions. Construction equipment noise will be heard near active work zones. Watering equipment will be utilized to control dust.
