Donnelly: California Is Run by 'Lawless Thugs'

Assemblyman Tim Donnelly (R-Twin Peaks) brought his fiery brand of politics to the Redlands Tea Party on last week, again calling for a revolution and a fight to take back the government and the country.

The assemblyman, who represents Monrovia in the 59th District, spoke to the Tea Party Patriots during the group’s monthly general meeting at Mill Creek Cattle Co. in Mentone.

Donnelly praised the work of the Tea Party, telling them that government was essentially out of control. He was direct in this belief right from the start of his address.

“We are in the middle of a war,” Donnelly told the crowd.

“How many people have five bucks in their pocket or more?” he asked. Several raised their hands. “OK, that was a big mistake. Don’t ever admit that again in the state of California because we’re coming for you. And I wish I was joking.”

Donnelly called the recently passed state budget a “sham and a lie,” insisting it carried at least three or four illegal taxes.

He then railed against Senate Bill 48, which requires any “Native Americans, African Americans, Mexican Americans, Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, European Americans, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Americans, and other ethnic and cultural groups,” who contributed to the development of the state or the country be included into school curriculum.

Regardless of opinions on homosexuality, no one should try to impose a philosophy on anyone, he said.

“Something is wrong when 2 percent of the people can dictate that every school district in the entire state of California must now teach a positive impression, teach the positive aspects of the homosexual agenda in your schools,” he said.

Donnelly also warned against what he called a growing problem with illegal immigrants and the impact of the Mexican cartels on the country. He cited the case of an illegal immigrant who drove drunk and slammed into a woman, a legal immigrant from Guatemala, as she stood at the trunk of her car.

The driver had multiple drunk driving arrests, but had not suffered any real consequences, Donnelly said.

“We don’t respect the rules,” Donnelly said. “Because we are run by a bunch of lawless thugs who control Sacramento.”

He did not spare his own Republican party. He chided them for being complicit.

“I hate to say that,” he said. “I love the Republican Party and I’m fighting from the inside to save it.”

The message was well received by the crowd of about 120 in the audience. There were shouts and cheers throughout Donnelly’s address.

“I’m glad they have they have public officials come out and address people,” said John Baldwin, who asked the assemblyman about AB 750, an initiative to create a state bank and its possible impact on business and the job market. “We need to know what’s going on.”
