Weather Alert: Storm to Force Road Closures Wednesday

Two mountain roads will be shut down Wednesday ahead of heavy snow forecasts.

Public access will be closed to two mountain roads Thursday night in anticipation of heavy snowfall expected to cause icy road conditions, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works.

Closures begin Wednesday December 12, 2012, at 10 p.m. and will affect the following two roads:

  • Angeles Forest Highway from Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road to Aliso Canyon Road
  • Upper Big Tujunga Canyon Road from Angeles Forest Highway to SR-2 (Angeles Crest Highway)

"Local access will not be permitted until the road closures are lifted," according to a public works news release. "The closures will remain in effect until the storm system has passed and the roads have been inspected."

For more information:

Residents and motorists can visit the CARE website at www.dpwcare.org for further updates on road conditions, or sign up to receive instant notifications through Public Works' eNotify system at www.dpw.lacounty.gov. Residents and motorists can also follow Public Works @dpwCARE for additional information on road conditions.

Residents, business owners and persons with access or functional needs may also call 2-1-1 for LA County information and referral services regarding post disaster resources that are available to those affected by the floods and debris and mud flow.  The toll-free 2-1-1 number is available 24 hours a day and seven days a week.  211 LA County Services can also be accessed by visiting www.211la.org.

Wow - what an insulting, non-constructive post. You live in a city whose citizens banded together toRead More tax themselves to save it Foothill wilderness, raised funds to renovate its schools and to build a state of the art library. The fact that one one single event in the year didn't go the way you wanted made you ashamed to be a Monrovian suggests you need to seriously rethink your priorities in life. As the first response said, quit complaining and get involved. Its not very hard in this city to find out how to volunteer if you had given it a slight effort. And the volunteer groups like the one that put the event together are starving for help since tearing people down is a lot more popular these days than putting in hard work. You are the one who should be ashamed.

A California city will never prevail in a lawsuit against the STATE. All CA. cities must merge toRead More sue in mass under Federal RICO laws while we still have Federal laws. Filing alone at the State level is useless. Wake up people.
