VFW Fund Raisers Mean Great Meal Deals

Monrovians who want to have a scrumptious meal and support a good cause should head over to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2070.  After a slowdown for several months, the Post now offers three meals each week at great prices, with proceeds going to help veterans in the community, and all of them are open to the community.

Monday nights mean Monday Night Football.  And at The Post that means $2 Taco Nights.  Proceeds go to the Post Ladies Auxiliary, and the tacos are handmade by the ladies with all the fixings and a variety of tasty options.  You can get them to go, or hang around, watch the game, and enjoy a half-off margarita with your taco.

Thursday night is hamburger night.  The Post previously had hamburgers on alternating Thursdays but, thanks to the dedication of Post volunteer Bill Coyne, it is now an every Thursday offering.  For $5 you get a truly thick and juicy burger, options for buns and cheese, and your choice of onion rings or fries.  I think it's the best meal value in town, but be prepared to wait a while as lots of other people do, too.  You can call ahead to order, or enjoy a drink in the canteen while you wait for Bill's magic. Bill is usually at the grill from 5-7pm on Thursdays, but don't get there too late!

Sunday breakfast was a staple at the Post for years until it overwhelmed a small band of hearty volunteers.  Now, Post Commander Moe Stamps has revamped the breakfast offering to an easier to manage $5.50 breakfast sandwich with eggs, toast, choice of meats, fruit and a beverage.

In addition to the menu of meals, The Post welcomes non-members for Karaoke nights and pool league nights. Drop in to join us for a meal and get to know your local veterans.
