Clifton Hit and Run Victim Improving, Communicating

The family of Berenice De La Torre, the 12-year-old Clifton student who sustained serious injuries in a hit and run collision last month, is holding a fundraiser Sunday.

Clifton Middle School Principal Jennifer Gates wrote the following email to MUSD staff about Berenice De La Torre, the 12-year-old Clifton student recovering from injuries sustained in a hit and run collision last month:

I am so pleased to inform you that Berenice has made major improvements most recently. She has started rehabilitation, is recognizing people she is familiar with, and communicating. Overall, her family has stated that she is doing much better. On behalf of the family, they would like to invite you to another fundraiser happening this Sunday. The event will take place at 12 p.m. at 1332 South California Avenue in Monrovia. It will be a potluck fundraiser where you can purchase Mexican food, hot dogs, sodas, raffle tickets and much, much more. Finally, you can still support our district fundraising drive by:

1) Bringing cash or checks to the Clifton main office. Checks should be made payable to The Kiwanis Foundation, who will then disperse the funds directly to the family.
