Covina Football Star Transfers to Monrovia

The champion Wildcats got a boost to their squad after a star Covina running back enrolled at Monrovia High.

Star runningback Gevontray Ainsworth has left Covina High School and has enrolled at Monrovia High, according to a report in the San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

Ainsworth, who has familial ties to Monrovia, rushed for more than 1,400 yards and scored nine touchdowns at Covina last season, the Tribune reports.

The addition of Ainsworth to the Wildcats' squad will help lessen the blow of losing two senior runningbacks who fueled Monrovia's .

Marquise Bias ran for 260 yards and three touchdowns in that game, and De'Shawn Ramirez rushed for 147 yards and two touchdowns.
