Football: McCarthy Selected to Play in All-America Game

Standout Monrovia defensive tackle Ellis McCarthy was selected to play in the U.S. Army All-America Bowl game in San Antonio, TX.

The 2012 U.S. Army All-American Bowl Selection Tour will travel to next week to announce that star defensive tackle Ellis McCarthy has been selected to play in the All-American Bowl game.

The bowl committee will "will honor McCarthy before his teammates, classmates, fans and family during a lunchtime presentation in the quad" on Monday, Oct. 17, according to a news release from the committee.

McCarthy, one of the top recruits in the nation, , including USC and Florida. ESPN ranks McCarthy as the No. 2 recruit in the southland.

The U.S. Army All-America Bowl game bills itself as the nation’s "premier high school football game" and "preeminent launching pad for America’s future college and NFL stars." It is held at the Alamobowl in San Antonio, TX, on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2012 and will be televised on NBC.
