Football Star McCarthy Ruled Out for Friday's Game
Ellis McCarthy got an MRI on his knee Monday and will not play this week no matter what the results of the test are, according to the Wildcats' coach.
football coach Ryan Maddox said defensive tackle Ellis McCarthy, one of the , will miss the Wildcats’ home game Friday night against San Dimas High.
The 6-foot-4, 310-pound McCarthy was limping after last . Maddox said McCarthy was after he continued to experience soreness over the weekend.
“He still has a little soreness in his knee,” Maddox said. “He’s going to go for an MRI. He’s walking much better than he was Saturday.”

Maddox said he will not let McCarthy play even if he starts to make significant progress in his recovery.
“He won’t play this week either way,” Maddox said. “We know from the X-Rays there is nothing there. If there was anything (bad) he probably wouldn’t have finished the game.”

But Maddox does not want to take a chance on his star, who has generated so much recruiting interest that against Glendora to scout out McCarthy.
“You just don’t know,” Maddox said. “We’re hoping for the best. I think it is more of a bruise than anything else.”
