Monrovia High Ranked #217 in State by U.S. News

The U.S. News & World Report rankings place Monrovia High School at No. 217 in California and No. 1,083 nationally.

Monrovia High School was ranked as the 217th best school in the state and 1,083rd best in the country by U.S. News & World Report, according to data released Tuesday.

The rankings are good for a "silver medal" from the magazine, which is famous for its national college rankings. This is the fourth year the magazine has ranked high schools and they include data from 22,000 schools around the country.

U.S. News reports Monrovia High's enrollment at 1,737. The school has 74 full-time teachers, good for a 23:1 student to teacher ratio. MHS has a minority enrollment of 73 percent.

The magazine says that the MHS Academic Performance Index score of 765 "does not achieve CA goal."

Monrovia beat out nearby Duarte High School, which came in at No. 394 in the state and No. 1,960 nationally. However, Arcadia High School recorded the highest marks for a public high school in the area, coming in at No. 64 in the state and No. 346 in the country.

Looking further west, La Canada High and San Marino High both cracked U.S. News' top 50 high schools in California.
