Photos: McCarthy, Williams Ink Commitments on National Signing Day

Wildcats Ellis McCarthy and Luke Williams each officially committed to their respective California schools Wednesday.

The ink is dry, the deals are done, and two local football stars will officially stay in state when they take the field in college next year.

officially signed with the UCLA Bruins Wednesday and wide receiver Luke Williams made his commitment to UC Davis official during a signing party at on National Signing Day, when recruits around the country made their school choices known.

MHS Principal Darvin Jackson congratulated the two standout athletes for earning full athletic scholarships to their respective schools and praised their academic work.

"Today we're recognizing these two young men not only for their toils and struggles and successes on the field but we're recognizing their toils and struggles in the classroom which have allowed them to become four-year student athletes at the highest level of university," Jackson said. "On behalf of Monrovia High School, the district and myself, congratulations to these two young men."

Jackson said the two students had already "signed, sealed and delivered" their commitments Wednesday morning but Williams and McCarthy each reenacted their signings for photographers. They were each joined by their parents.
