School District to Consider Dozens of Layoffs

District officials are recommending the layoffs to slash the budget, according to a staff report.

The Monrovia Unified School District Board of Education will consider laying off dozens employees next week during its regular meeting, according to an agenda report released late Friday.

The report states that 42 positions could be "discontinued or reduced" if the school board approves the resolution. It is unclear if all the positions would be eliminated.

Affected jobs on the list include 32 instructional aide positions, two clerical assistant positions, one instructional assistant, four library technicians, and three library media specialists, the report attached to this story says.
