Monrovia Headlines Star-News' Preseason Football Top 10

Four SGV Patch teams included in rankings sneak preview.

Nothing generates conversation quite like preseason top 10 lists, and Tuesday the Pasadena Star-News gave everyone a sneak peak with who it views as the top five teams in the West San Gabriel Valley (the full top 10 won't be available to the public until the end of August when the Star-News' PrepXtra Magazine prints).

It wasn't much of a surprise to see Monrovia atop the rankings. In coach Ryan Maddox's three years, the Wildcats have become the flagship program on this side of the valley. The 'Cats have won at least 10 games every year under Maddox, and they clinched their first ever CIF-Southern Section divisional championship with last year's win over Whittier Christian.

Can the Wildcats repeat as champs? It's certainly not out of the question. Monrovia boasts the most disruptive force in the area in defensive tackle , and they have a slew of offensive playmakers in running back , quarterback George Frazier and wide receivers Luke Williams and Aaron Craft.
