To his point, on its first three drives, Monrovia held the South Pasadena offense to three-and-outs with a net zero yards allowed. Over the course of the game, the defense would only allow 44 total yards rushing.

The Wildcats offense also had no problem with the Tiger defense. Monrovia scored on four of its five possessions in the first half and added three more touchdowns in the second.

"Our kids really played excellent tonight," Maddox said of his offense.  "We spread [South Pasadena] out, threw the ball well and ran the ball well."

Quarterback Nick Bueno, who South Pasadena coach Ed Smith called "the MVP of the league," had another monster night, throwing for three scores and catching a touchdown pass as well.

"They tried to take away my running game tonight," Bueno said.  "They stacked the box, so I spread it out passing and let the playmakers do the work."

Next Friday, the Wildcats will host the La Canada in their final league game of the year.

La Canada comes in with a 5-4 record and a  3-1 mark in league.

"They're a good squad," Maddox said.  "But we'll start looking at film tomorrow and get ready."

Bueno added, "They always come out ready to play against us.  It'll be a battle."
