Blog: Buzzer sounds on MHS's 2012-2013 robotics season. But we'll be back!

The buzzer sounds on Monrovia High School's 2012-2013 robotics season. But we'll be back!

This Saturday (3/2/2013) all three teams from the Monrovia High School robotics
program (Deadbolts, Kings & Queens and Suitbot) completed their season by
competing in the Los Angeles FIRST® Technology Challenge (FTC) Robotics
Championships.

This event, held in the Monrovia High School Event Center, pitted the 45 best
robotics teams from the Los Angeles region against each other. These teams all had to qualify for the regional championship at one of the six regional qualifying
tournaments held thoughout the region (Coachella Valley, Claremont, Monrovia,
Antelope Valley, Pasadena, and Los Angeles).

All the Monrovia teams competed well. After the qualifying rounds Deadbolts were ranked 14th, Kings & Queens 12th and Suitbots 2nd. The Kings & Queens were chosen as an alliance partner and the Deadbolts were an alliance captain. Unfortunately, both lost in the first elimination round.

In addition to their success on the field, the Suitbots won the Rockwell Collins
Innovate Award. “This judged award is given to the team that has the most
innovative and creative robot design solution to any or all specific field
elements or components in the FTC game.”

These kids had a great season of robotics and I am very proud of each of them. I want to especially thank my seniors. Brian, Claudia, Daniel D., Daniel R. and Adam you are my inspiration and the reason I run the program. Thank you for your blood, sweat and  tears and for the legacy you left behind. MHS robotics is what it is because of you.
