Blog: MHS Robotics Team Qualifies for Championships

MHS robotics teams qualify for the LAFTC Championships to be held at Monrovia High School on March 2nd. Suitbots and Kings & Queens come in 1st and 2nd for the FTC Inspire award.

Saturday (1/12/13), all three Monrovia High School robotics teams travelled to the the Antelope Valley LA FTC Qualifiing Tournament and qualified for the LAFTC Championships which will be held at Monrovia High School on March 2nd.

The Suitbots and the Kings & Queens placed first and second in the judging for the FTC Inspire award. This is the tournament’s top award. “The team that receives this award is chosen by the judges as having best represented a ‘role model FTC Team’.”

In addition the Suitbots won the Promote award and were nominated for four other awards (the PTC Design, the Rockwell Innovate, the Connect and the Motivate). Finally, the Suitbots set a new record high score for the LA region of 235 points. The scored 50 points in the autonomous phase, 75 in the teleop phase and wowed the crowd by lifting their alliance partner robot
17inches off the ground for 110 more points.

The Kings & Queens won the Connect Award and were nominated for two other awards (the PTC Design and the Rockwell Collins Innovate).

The DeadBolts were nominated for the Think Award.

Next up, on February 2nd,we are hosting the Monrovia Qualifier. On February 9th we have the San Diego qualifier, on February 23rd is the San Diego Championships (if we qualify). On March 2nd is the LA Championships
