Blog: MHS Robotics Team Qualifies for San Diego FIRST® Tech Championships

MHS robotics travels to San Diego. The Suitbots win the Connect Award and qualify for the San Diego FIRST® Tech Championships.

This Saturday (2/9/2013) the Monrovia High School robotics program sent three teams (Suitbots, Kings & Queens, and Deadbolts) to San Diego to qualify for the San Diego Regional FIRST® Tech Challenge Championships. The Suitbots went 5-0 in the qualifying rounds and won the Connect Award to earn a spot in the San Diego Regional Championships.

The Connect Award is a judged award that is given to "the team that most connected with their local community and the engineering community. A true FIRST team is more than a sum of its parts, and recognizes that its schools and communities play an essential part to their success. The recipient of this award is recognized for helping the community understand FIRST, the FTC, and the team itself. The team that wins this award is aggressively seeking engineers and exploring the opportunities available in the world of engineering, science and technology."

The Suitbots and the Kings & Queens were also nominated for the PTC Design
Award.
