Monrovia Fully Represented in Regional Robotics Championship

Monrovia Robotics News

This weekend marked the end of the LA FIRST Tech Challenge qualifying season. Robotics teams from the city of Monrovia finished with a flurry. By Sunday night, every team from the Gem City had qualified for the LA FTC Regional Championships. These qualifiers include the four teams from Monrovia High School as well as the two teams from Santa Fe Middle School.

Congratulations R.E.D, Kings & Queens, Suit Bots and Thavma from Monrovia High School! Congratulations Cougarobotics and  Unibots from Santa Fe Middle School!

The Kings & Queens of Monrovia High School have also qualified for the San Diego Regional Championships on Feb. 15th

On Saturday, the Suit Bots of Monrovia High School traveled to the Victorville Qualifying Tournament. At Victorville the Suit Bots finally put it all together (ambitious design, on field performance, judging) and brought home the 1st place Inspire Award. The Inspire Award is a judged award that goes to the tournament's top team. In addition, the Suit Bots were nominated for the Rockwell Collins Innovate Award, the PTC Design Award and the Think Award. Great job Suit Bots!

On Sunday, the Unibots and Cougarobotics from Santa Fe Middle School went downtown to the Beverly Hills Qualifying Tournament.   There they teamed up on the same alliance and won Finalist Alliance Award. The Finalist Alliance Award goes to the teams that make up the winning on field alliance. Cougarobotics are made up of 6th graders and were the alliance captain, their alliance partner the Unibots are comprised of 8th graders. Wow!

The LA FTC Regional Championships will be held Feb. 22nd in the MHS Event Center. The LA Region encompasses eight Southern California counties and the state of Hawaii.
