City Council Proclaims May 3rd as 'Don Yost Day'

The longtime member of the Monrovia branch of Kiwanis International was honored by the organization and City Council on Tuesday.

Longtime Monrovia business owner Don Yost, who never missed a Kiwanis meeting in 47 years, was honored by the Tuesday and had a day dedicated in his honor.

Yost was unable to attend because of an ongoing battle with cancer, but his many friends from the city's branch of gathered at city council chambers to praise the devoted volunteer.

"Don Yost has just been a tremendous member of the community, a tremendous member of our club and we are all here to honor him," said Kiwanian Alfredo Mejia. "We’re all here because we love Don."

Monrovia Mayor Mary Ann Lutz read a city proclamation declaring Thursday, May 3 as "Don Yost Day."

Yost served as the treasurer/secretary for Kiwanis for many years and operated several businesses in Monrovia. He was also heavily involved with the Key Club at , according to Julie Gentile of Kiwanis.
