Foothill Unity Gearing Up for Massive Thanksgiving Food Drive

The local charity is seeking donations in its effort to feed thousands of people on Thanksgiving.

is soliciting donations of frozen turkeys and non-perishable food items in anticipation of its geared toward helping less fortunate families enjoy a proper Thanksgiving dinner.

Last year the center provided meals for more than 1,600 local families at the Arboretum. About 150 volunteers helped people from around the San Gabriel Valley pack up shopping carts with large boxes of food to take back to their cars and more than 500 volunteers helped pack the boxes at the Arboretum, according to the center.

The local charity is also asking for volunteers to help out at upcoming events like the food drive.

Residents are encouraged to help out in the following ways:

  • Host a food drive of non-perishable food items
  • Donate frozen turkeys
  • Volunteer time. Thanksgiving/holiday volunteer dates and shifts at  www.foothillunitycenter.org - Help Us Help > Volunteer
  • Adopt a flight of angels and fulfill the children's gift wishes on them
  • Donate funds to support our holiday programs.
