Julie Roybal Tapped to Head Monrovia Rotary Club

The local insurance broker and volunteer will serve as president of the Rotary Club of Monrovia.

The Rotary Club of Monrovia chose a new president this week, selecting insurance broker and volunteer Julie Roybal to head up the local service organization for the next year.

A member of the club for the last four years, Roybal takes over for outgoing president Thomas Hould, who oversaw the club's most successful scholarship year ever. Rotary donated $22,700 to local students last year, according to a club press release.

In addition to her work with Rotary, Roybal has served as a YMCA Board Member at Large and as an ambassador for the Monrovia Chamber of Commerce.

Roybal said in a written statement that the club will continue to host "Service Saturdays" to encourage local volunteerism.

"We are a very energized and excited club with lots of good ideas," Roybal wrote. "The highlight for us this year is the Service Saturday’s that we will do throughout the year. We currently have the following projects planned for the coming year: , paint the Rotary Bandshell in , Christmas program at , as well as programs in conjunction with the , School District and City to address the needs of our community."
