In anticipation of upcoming 9/11 memorial events, Monrovia's is asking residents to drop off their old or worn flags so that they can be respectfully disposed of.
The VFW accepts flags year-round and stores them for safe keeping before they are immolated in a disposal ceremony.
"A lot of folks are buying new flags to fly soon, and we want to make sure the old ones are properly and respectfully retired," said Post Commander Clint "Moe" Stamps in a written statement.
Flags can be brought to the post located at 825 S. Magnolia Avenue. A disposal ceremony is planned for later this month, but flags can be dropped off any time.
