Do we know why the young man has been in multiple high schools? I don't think we should judge that.Read More It could be that his parents had to move. In this economy, anything is possible. Let's just welcome him and wish him the best. He may be an athlete, but he's just a kid, and being an athlete may be how he excels. No aspersions on him or his folks. Don't know the young man and just hope he is happy at MHS.

Congratulations Mason and Brent! You're hard work and dedication has paid off! When Mason BryantRead More and Brent Walsh were in 5th grade at Mayflower Elementary, I was a playground aide. The 5th grade really wanted to play football at recess but weren't allowed unless an aide would over see the "game". I love football so I volunteered to be that aide. There were many students that impacted me that year because of football. Good sportsmanship, team players, hard workers - but Mason and Brett stood out as leaders - even then. I have said hi in the neighborhood or at different schools when I've seen them. They always call me by my name and ask how I am - no matter how long it's been since the last run-in. Thank you Mason and Brett for making that 1st year of mine in the district so special and fun. I know you will make all of Monrovia proud.

Warhawk, you are sounding like an immature fool here. Pity you feel you represent your school'sRead More football community because the visiting fans I spoke to all seemed quite nice. YOU had nothing to do with the team winning. Our boys had some unfortunate mistakes that ended up losing the game for them. They are winners in our eyes because they have dedication and strength and sportsmanship. They outplayed Madison, but did not outscore Madison and therefore lost. We realize that....and you know what? It changes NOTHING about how we feel about the Monrovia Wildcats. We are tremendously proud of their achievements. Congratulations and good luck next week Madison Warhawks. And to just plain old Warhawk that is posting on here...ahhh...never mind..."if you haven't got anything nice to say..."

Well, Warhawk, it is a shame that you've come here to gloat in the face of a community that is veryRead More proud of an extraordinary team. Or perhaps three CIF-SS crowns in a row are pathetic to you. However, football games are won and lost on execution, and our four turnovers certainly did outweigh our otherwise superior performance. That said, if Marin outgains the Warhawks 4:1 (like Monrovia did) then you folks better pray their quarterback keeps throwing into triple coverage AND their kicker has an off night. Because, like last night, that's the only way you'll win. Stay classy, San Diego!

You're a class act saying that the better team want the better team definitely not a class act! StopRead More speaking non sense and admit that you're not the better team!

Coach Maddox is the Vince Lombardi of High School Coaches
Erin Thorn December 6, 2012 at 06:46 pm
Monrovia High School is blessed with a great coaching staff and hopefully they will stay in placeRead More for years to come. My son came to the high school 4 years ago with zero football knowledge or experience. This staff taught him and gave a kid with no experience the opportunity to play on a team that has had 4 league championships, 3 CIF Division Championships and now the opportunity to play in a Regional Bowl game. Most of all they gave him a passion for something that kept him involved like nothing ever has before. I don't know what he would have done during high school if he hadn't played football but I am so thankful that he was lucky enough to have Coach Maddox and his staff to teach and mentor him.
R. Ray Morford December 6, 2012 at 04:13 pm
Football at Monrovia High School is exciting. Coach Maddox not only teaches the basics of football,Read More but helps ingrain the importance of learning. Not all of these young men will play football after High School. How to study and then exceed in life is most important.

Phillips to help celebrate the accomplishment of the coaches and team. GO WILDCATS!!!!!!
