The department is responsible for enforcing the Monrovia's gang injunction, which the city obtained in 2009.</p> <p>The MPD has a detective bureau but homicides in the city are investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Homicide Bureau.</p> <p>Police Chief Roger Johnson has held his position since 2002.</p>
