Photos: Injured Bear Treated, Released Into Wild
Startled animal reportedly runs into parked car, suffers mild injury, police said.
Officials treated a bear's bloody nose Saturday afternoon after it ran itself into a vehicle.
The bear was spotted in the area of West Hillcrest Blvd. and North Mayflower Avenue before 1 p.m. For reasons unknown to police, the bear became startled and ran into a parked car, according to Sergeant Don Newton of
Officials tranquilized the bear to examine it and believed initially that the animal suffered from a fractured nose and sinus cavity.
"It was looked at and released," Newton said. "They checked it and it was nothing. It was just a bloody nose and sinus."
Officials transported the bear a couple of miles north of Camp Trask and was released back into the wild, police said.
