Monrovia resident Brian Ulm has a "Please Wipe Your Paws" welcome mat outside the door of his home on Mauna Loa Drive and a bear decided to take him up on the offer Monday afternoon.
The bear also climbed a tree on Ulm's property and riled up his dog Cody, according to Ulm's Facebook page.
So it started with Cody barking his brains out more than usual at the fence. I yelled at him to get up and stop barking at the dog on the other side. Then he snuck out and ran back and I noticed he was under the tree looking up barking. Her is my Bear close-encounter photos. I locked up Cody, opened the gate and waited for him to leave (and called the neighbors on both sides to keep clear).
