THE MUSIC MAN IS COMING TO TOWN!

The Music Man is coming!  The Music Man is coming!  I’m so excited to share with you that Monrovia is ready to take another leap forward culturally.  Not only do we have the arts group MAFA, but now we have a theater group performing at the Louise K. Taylor Performing Arts Center located at the Monrovia High School. Now this isn’t a high school production, it’s an actual professional community theater production.  What better way to start things off than with THE MUSIC MAN!  Who doesn’t love 76 Trombones and The Wells Fargo Wagon.

Patrick Garcia, the Director of Performing Arts for Monrovia Unified School District, is also the Producing Artistic Director for this production of THE MUSIC MAN

The Music Man will be performed on July 18th at 8:00 p.m., July 19th at 8:00 p.m. and on the 20th two performances at 2:00 and 8:00 p.m. Tickets are available through www.brownpapertickets.com/event/393433 and by phone at 1-800-838-3006.  If you cannot purchase your tickets via the internet, you will be able to purchase tickets at the door starting one hour before show time.

My interest in this production of The Music Man isn’t purely because I love the theater -, I have an ulterior motive.  My hubby, David Conway is also going to act in the play.  ACT? SING? DANCE? I know you are probably thinking, DAVE? Well yes.  He may have surprised some of you at our local karaoke watering holes in Monrovia because when you put a microphone in front of that man, he turns into James Brown.  I have the video to back this up.

This auditorium was built by John C. Austin, who is the same architect who built the LA City Hall, the Shrine Auditorium and the Griffith Park Observatory. What’s so nice about having the play at this venue is that it’s a building that was recently renovated with our bond money for the benefit of the students, and now the entire community gets to enjoy it as well!

The theater has 1550 seats.  The dream would be to fill up all these seats at every performance.  Let’s not disappoint and let’s support the local arts and theater by purchasing your tickets today for THE MUSIC MAN.

I’m looking forward to seeing Monrovia come out and support THE MUSIC MAN!
